What is my IP address? This free tool answers it the moment the page loads. It shows your public IPv4 address, your internet provider and your approximate location, with a one-click copy button. No input is needed and nothing is stored.
IP Address Lookup
Instantly verify your public IP address, ISP, and network location for IT troubleshooting and VPN verification.
What the Tool Shows
- Public IPv4 address. The address the rest of the internet sees when your network sends a request.
- ISP or organization. The internet provider or company that owns the address range.
- Location. An approximate city or region based on the address, not your street address.
Click Copy IP Address to save the number to your clipboard.
Public IP vs Private IP
Knowing the difference stops a lot of confusion when you talk to IT support.
- Private IP (local). Assigned by your router to each device, for example 192.168.1.15. Only devices on your own network can see it.
- Public IP (external). Assigned by your internet provider to your modem or router. Every site you visit sees this address. This tool shows your public IP.

When You Need to Check Your IP Address
- Verifying a VPN. Check what is my IP address before and after connecting. If the address and location change, your traffic is routing through the VPN.
- Server whitelisting. Cloud databases, admin portals and property management systems often only accept known addresses. Send the number to your administrator so they can add you.
- Helpdesk tickets. Paste your public IP into a support ticket so the technician can trace connection drops and routing problems.
- Troubleshooting a blocked site. Some services block addresses for security reasons. Knowing your IP lets you ask the right team to check.
- Remote work setup. Confirm the address your home or office network presents before you request access to a company system.
Why Your IP Location Can Be Wrong
IP location is an estimate. Providers register address blocks to a region, and the lookup reads that registration. Results can show a nearby city, the provider’s regional hub, or the VPN exit point instead of your real position. Mobile networks often route traffic through a central gateway, which can place you in a different city entirely. Treat the location as a rough guide, not proof of where you are.
How to Use the Tool
- Open the page. The lookup runs automatically.
- Read your IP, provider and location.
- Click Copy IP Address and paste it where it is needed.
- Reload after changing networks or connecting a VPN to see the new address.
What Is My IP Address FAQ
What is my IP address right now?
It appears at the top of the tool as soon as the page loads. It is the public address your connection uses on the internet.
Does my IP address change?
Often, yes. Most home connections use a dynamic address that can change when your router restarts or your provider reassigns it.
Can someone find my home address from my IP?
No. An IP address points to a provider region, not to a street address. Only your provider can link an address to your account.
Why does this tool show an IPv4 address and not IPv6?
The tool reports your public IPv4 address. If your network uses IPv6 as well, you may see a different format on other lookup sites.
